Abstract
Wild edible plants are very significant sources of natural food resources and hold considerable importance regarding their nutritional value, medicinal qualities, economic aspects, and culture. The importance of such plants is increasing in the current situation due to various concerns related to food security, nutritional needs, sustainable use of resources, and conservation of traditional knowledge. Jharkhand State has favourable ecological and climatic conditions for the presence of a rich variety of wild plant resources. Giridih district, with its abundance of forests, hills, plateaus, valleys, different vegetation, and suitable environments, provides suitable conditions for the growth of many wild edible plants. The main objective of the study is to find out some of the major wild edible plants occurring in Giridih district and assess their nutritional value, traditional uses, geographical distribution, significance, and major challenges facing their conservation. This is a descriptive and exploratory study and is mainly based on secondary data, literature, forest-related sources, research work, and other sources of information. It is observed that there are many wild edible plants which are being used locally, including varieties of plants which yield fruits, flowers, leaves, seeds, shoots, tubers, and other edible parts. They help in meeting local food needs and are closely linked to traditional knowledge and community practices. However, there are also many important challenges which need attention, especially the reduction in inter-generational transfer of traditional knowledge about wild edible plants. Young people are becoming less aware of their identification, gathering, processing, and uses. Deforestation, degradation of habitats, developmental activities, and changes in consumption patterns are also reducing their availability. Therefore, systematic documentation, botanical exploration, community awareness, conservation, and scientific assessment of their nutritional and economic potential are important for protecting these valuable plant resources.

Abstract
Education, social reform and women’s empowerment are closely connected and play an important role in the development of society. For a long time women have experienced discrimination and unequal opportunities in education, employment and social participation. Social reform movements have contributed significantly to challenging these inequalities and creating a more just and equal society. Education serves as a powerful means of empowerment because it develops awareness, knowledge , confidence and the ability to make informed decisions. It enables women to become more active in social, economic and political life and helps them move towards greater independence. This paper explores the relationship between education and social reform in promoting women’s empowerment. It focuses on the ways in which education can improve women’s economic independence, health awareness and participation in family and community decision-making. At the same time social reforms supported by appropriate laws, policies and institutional mechanisms have helped improve the social position and rights of women. On the other hand significant challenges still remain. Gender discrimination, poverty, early marriage and limited access to quality education continue to affect many women particularly those from disadvantaged communities. Therefore women’s empowerment demands a comprehensive approach that combines inclusive and quality education with effective policy implementation, legal support and continuous social awareness. Sustainable social development is possible only when women are provided with equal opportunities and are empowered to participate fully in all areas of life.
